UFC Champion Dricus du Plessis Criticizes South African Government in Bold Statement.
In a recent interview, UFC titleholder Dricus du Plessis didn’t pull any punches when expressing his views on the South African government.
Dricus made history last Sunday, securing his place as the first South African to claim a UFC title by defeating US star Sean Strickland at the Scotiabank Arena in Canada.
During an insightful conversation with Nina-Marie Daniele on her YouTube channel, the champion did not mince words about his assessment of the South African government, boldly proclaiming it to be the worst in the world.
“I would rank our government as the worst in the world by a long shot,” Dricus asserted. “We are truly exceptionally challenged when it comes to governance.”
Refusing to retract his statement, Dricus reiterated his stance upon arriving at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Thursday.
“I stand by what I said,” he affirmed. “I’m not a politician; I’m a sports person. Few can argue with me when you consider the facts.”
Acknowledging the negative aspects, Dricus emphasized the resilience of South Africans in the face of adversity.
“We have challenges that we can’t ignore, but look at what it looks like outside here with the fans. That is what unites us as South Africans. We focus on the positive aspects, not the negatives.”
Despite potential attempts to provoke a reaction with negativity, Dricus remained confident in the collective spirit of South Africans.

“They can try as hard as they want with negative things. They can attempt to get under our skin, but they won’t succeed.”
